2019 summer fun

Kids camps at the Shawnee Theatre gives youth as young as kindergarten and as old as high school the opportunity to learn news skills, perform on stage and have a blast during the summer.

Let's put on a play

May 28-31 and June 3-7, 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Final performance is 7 p.m. on June 7

Grades: K-12

Be an actor on the Shawnee Stage! Education Director, Camryn Huffman, will be directing our kids show, Rapunzel Uncut this summer. This camp consists of acting techniques, improv games, and characterization techniques to help campers build characters for a scripted play. The show will be blocked and memorized while campers discover their inner-creative selves. Camp fee includes a daily snack, camp t-shirt, two tickets for the performance and a pizza dinner on performance day.

Note: Please bring your own lunch and wear closed-toed shoes.


Musical Theatre Cabaret Camp

June 17-21 and 24-28 from 9 a.m. until noon. Final performance is Saturday, June 29, at 2 p.m.

Grades: K-8

Join Genese Gee-Schmidtke of OurCorner Performing Arts, Washington, D.C. and Camryn Huffman to sing, dance, and create a cabaret!  

Camp fee includes a daily snack, camp t-shirt, two tickets for the performance and a pizza dinner on performance day.

Note: Please bring your own lunch and wear movable clothing and closed-toed shoes.


Comedy Collaboration

June 17-21 and 24-28, 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. Final performance is 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 29

Grades: K-12

Genese Gee-Schmidtke of OurCorner Performing Arts, Washington, D.C. and Camryn Huffman collaborate to make a crazy, comedy camp experience for campers. Taking inspiration from the past tv show, Whose Line Is It Anyways, campers will learn the basics of improvisation and improv games. They will then perform an improv sketch before the Camper Cabaret on June 29.

Fee includes a daily snack, camp t-shirt, two tickets for the performance and a pizza party on performance day.

Note: Please bring your own lunch and wear closed-toed shoes


Grease Bootcamp

June 24-30, 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Performances July 18-21

Grades: High School Only, Admittance by Auditions (no experience necessary)

  • Auditions: May 27 at 6 p.m. at Shawnee Theatre

  • Rehearsals: June 24-July 17 TBD

  • Tech Week/Dress Rehearsal: July 16-17 10 a.m. - 10 p.m.

  • Performances: July 18-21

Want to be a part of Grease? Want to work with professional directors, choreographers and actors? Then come explore the magic of musical theater - Grease. Directed by Bretteney Beverly, the Associate Artistic Director of Shawnee Theatre.

Students must attend every rehearsal and performance. If students have conflicts please contact us at shawneetheatre@gmail.com prior to enrolling. Unexcused absences may result in dismissal from the production. All students will receive a professional acting credit for their participation. The fee includes a daily snack (week of camp), costumes (minus shoes), script, musical score and other production fees. Note: Please bring your own lunch and wear movable clothing and closed-toed shoes.
