2019 Auditions

Local General Auditions for the 2019 Season will be on Saturday, Feb. 9 and callbacks Sunday, Feb. 10 at Bloomington Playwrights Project.

Our Young Artists Program auditions will be Sunday, Feb. 10 from 1-3:30 p.m.

Video Submissions will be accepted no later than Thursday, Feb. 21.

We’ll be attending MidWest Theatre Auditions Friday, Feb. 22 through Sunday, Feb. 24.  We do not audition in New York or provide Equity contracts at this time.

New! Shawnee Theatre’s Young Artists Program

The Shawnee Theatre Young Artists Program for High School and College students, enables young, emerging artists to have diverse experiences in one of Indiana’s longest running professional theatres.  They leave confident equipped with professional training, support, and thorough understanding of the inner workings of a successful professional theatre company. Our goal is to help hone and improve the skills you already have, as well as help you develop and discover skills that will benefit you in every aspect of our industry. All our Apprentices are paid.

Audition Requirements

Local Bloomington, IN Auditions held at Bloomington Playwrights Project.

  • Please prepare a one (1) minute monologue.

  • If you wish to perform a monologue and a song, you have one (1) minute thirty (30) seconds to perform the monologue and 16 bars of a song.  Musical accompaniment will be provided.

  • Please make sure the beginning and ending of your selection are clearly marked on the sheet music.  Please make sure your music is in the correct key as our musician will not transpose music.

  • Please do not exceed the above allotted audition times.

  • Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your scheduled audition time to warm up and let the Audition Manager know you have arrived.

  • All actors should bring a minimum of four (4) copies of their headshot and resume.

  • At the bottom of this page, a character breakdown from the shows is supplied for you.

Please note: Callbacks WILL occur the following day Sunday, February 10th. If asked, please come prepared to dance.

Video submissions accepted by Thursday, Feb. 21

  • Please prepare a one (1) minute monologue.

  • If you feel comfortable, you may submit a 30 second spotlight of you dancing.

  • If additional material is needed, you’ll be contacted.

Local High School Auditions for Miss Nelson is Missing & Grease at Bloomington Playwrights Project (2/10/19)

  • Please prepare a one (1) minute monologue.

  • If you wish to perform a monologue and a song, you have one (1) minute thirty (30) seconds to perform the monologue and 16 bars of a song.  Musical accompaniment will be provided. 

  • Please make sure the beginning and ending of your selection are clearly marked on the sheet music.  Please make sure your music is in the correct key as our musician will not transpose music.

  • Please do not exceed the above allotted audition times.

  • Please come prepared to sing and dance.

  • Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your scheduled audition time to warm up and let the Audition Manager know you have arrived.

After you fill out the application form, you will be redirected to a form to sign-up for an application time.

If you are auditioning for the Young Artists Program, please schedule your audition on Sunday, Feb. 10 in a time slot for 1-3:30. All others, you must schedule your audition on Saturday, Feb. 9.

If you are singing for your audition, please schedule your audition on Saturday, Feb. 9 after 12 p.m.
