Shawnee theatre is magic. That is the only word I can use to describe how such life changing work happens so quickly. I worked with actors that had absolutely limitless passion for the work. And that passion translated directly to the stage.
The work I did at Shawnee is some of my finest, and I attribute it to the relationships I developed very quickly with the talented actors. Because of how quickly you must work at Shawnee, you develop a deep sense of trust IMMEDIATELY that allows you to work beyond where you believe your limitations to be. Shawnee stretched my range and ability and brought me to a new level of work that matches my three years in grad school.
There is a sense of urgency that exists that I have now encorporated into my work that would never be there without that summer. Every minute is precious. But most importantly, that summer was the most fun I have ever had in my life. I can't imagine having more fun than I did that summer. It is so difficult to put into words exactly why Shawnee theatre is so successful. The best testimony I can give is that I am still in contact with every actor I worked with this summer, and I consider them to be some of my best and closest friends. To develop that kind of relationship in such a short time can only be described as magic.
